laBeada Loca
Welcome to laBeada Loca, the site for those who are passionate about beads, bead work and bead history.
This site is devoted to the many aspects of beads, bead work and bead history. While my expertise is in bead work, more research and development for bead history and beads in general is upcoming. Because beads have been with us for so long, at least 30,000 BCE to the present, this site will constantly be updated, so please keep returning for new and interesting information, new books added to the bibliography, or new pieces added to the collection of bead work pics.
Some pages will introduce the visitor to the concept of "preventive conservation," a technique used in contemporary museums to keep objects in their collection in the best shape, for the longest amount of time, without having to consult the services of a Conservator, which is usually the last, and most costly step in caring for their collection.
Other pages will take the visitor to enjoy galleries of techniques used by bead working cultures and arists around the world. Personal galleries will also show my own work, as well as the work of talented people I am priviledged to call my friends.
Anyway you look at this site, HAVE FUN!
"Apache T-Necklace done in 'my' style," $1.500.00. When I worked for The White Mountain Apache Tribe's museum and cultural center, on Wednesdays, we would get together at lunch and do beadwork. I was asked to do a traditional Apache T-Necklace, and received high marks from my mentors on the finished product. Then I asked to do a T-Necklace in "my" style. Check out the results below! They were quite happy. This piece, by the way, is adjustable.
No businesses are ever a complete entity unto themselves, and so it is with this endeavor. Please click on the link provided for your travel and relaxation needs after a long winter of beading!
